Tell us about Not Without Risk and where it’s available.
BLURB: Six agonizing months after a slug collapsed his lung, Sergeant Justin Harrison manages to return to the one place where he shines—the San Diego homicide division. Nothing will stand in the way of proving he is fit for active duty. Especially not the long-legged brunette who just stumbled into his crime scene.
Photographer Paige Conroy spent years hiding from her past. Then a late night telephone call brings it crashing back. An old friend is in town and needs her help. When she arrives at his hotel room four hours later, he's dead. Suddenly, she's the target of a madman, and Paige must turn to Sergeant Harrison for protection.
But who is the bigger threat to her... the faceless assailant she fears will steal her life or the dark-eyed detective she knows could steal her heart? Not Without Risk is available in multiple formats including print, eBook and Kindle edition. You can find it at The Wild Rose Press, Amazon and multiple other online retailers. (link to The Wild Rose Press http://www.thewildrosepress.com/sarah-grimm-m-640.html )
Can you remember the very first characters you ever wrote? Who were they, What were they? Do you think any of your earliest characters developed into any of your modern day characters?
Wow, this takes me back… My first characters were written when I was 13 years old. My best friend and I were both writing about our ‘crushes’ at the time – pop stars. If I still had those writings…wouldn’t that be a hoot?
In a way, my earliest characters did develop into my modern characters. I didn’t use the exact same characters, but I did use my love of music and a little bit of that school girl rock star obsession when I wrote AFTER MIDNIGHT, a book I’m currently ‘tweaking’ for submission. It’s about Noah Clark, a sexy singer and Isabeau Montgomery, a very tortured heroine.
How did you celebrate getting your very first contract?
I danced around the room like a fool and then called everyone I know to tell them. My husband brought me roses.
Along with the tweaking of AFTER MIDNIGHT, I’m plotting out a story about a serial killer who makes death masks of his victims. I also have a story called THE LAST KISS, about a homicide detective who winds up falling for a woman accused of killing her foster father. Nothing surprising until the detective realizes that, as a uniformed officer, he was the first on the scene at her parent’s brutal murder years ago. Could she have killed her birth parents and her foster father?
With the wave of latest released movies coming from well know books like, The time travellers wife, My sisters keeper, Dear John, PS I Love You… If you’ve watched any of them, as a reader did you enjoy the film versions or do you prefer the book version?
I honestly haven’t read or seen any of them. My tastes run more to authors like Karen Slaughter, Lisa Jackson, and Tess Gerritsen. I can’t wait for TNT’s upcoming show “Rizzoli & Isles” based on Gerritsen’s Jane Rizzoli series.Do you have a writing routine?
I write whenever I can find the time. Unfortunately that’s not as often as I would like. My day job keeps me very busy, as do my two teenaged sons, three dogs and my husband.
